Our second tip comes from Patrick Reicke! Patrick offers his advice on lending a hand even when it seems you are not wanted.
Here is what Patrick has to say:
Tip #2: When your neighbor says he can do that job by himself, go ahead and help him anyway.
We prize self-sufficiency--until it's too late. Sure, your neighbor might be able to clean his siding by himself, but if you held the ladder steady for him while he did, then he'd feel cared about. He'd also be more likely to lend you his power washer when your patio needs cleaned. And if you help him assemble his new play set you might enter into a great conversation about things you share in common and you might begin to understand each other better. Even better than helping your neighbor with a job--when he offers to help you, LET HIM! It'll make him feel good and you'll build a bridge with him.
Thank you so much Patrick for the beautiful tip!
