This might be one the of the most exciting things we've done at NeighborLink in the past 10 years. Earlier this year, we started releasing videos called, "Small Things." They were 1-minute illustrations of how small things done intentional and/or on a regular basis have extraordinary impact on those around us. From that campaign comes the Neighbor of the Year Campaign. It's our goal to invite neighbors to identify those neighbors that have made an impact on them personally or on the neighborhood in general and allow us to celebrate their efforts.
With the media support of WANE TV and the financial support of Parkview Health, we have launched the Neighbor of the Year campaign. A team of judges will identify five neighbors from the many nominations to be interviewed and have a video produced about their story. From there, we'll invite the public to vote on who should receive the award at the NeighborLink end of the year event on December 3rd. The winner of the campaign will receive a $1,000 grant from NLFW to complete a project within their neighborhood. It could be for a homeowner in need that they know or a community wide project.
Giving the Fort Wayne community the opportunity to recognize neighbors that usually fly under the radar is what makes this campaign so exciting. With your help, we'll identify many incredible people that are truly the glue that holds our neighborhoods together. We believe that a healthy community begins at the neighborhood level and without healthy neighborhoods, there is no way we can have a healthy community.
Please head over to www.NeighborOfTheYear.org to nominate your neighbor today. Then stay tuned because in November you'll have the opportunity to cast your vote to award a winner.
