"Brothers and sisters: ???Put on, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved,???heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,???bearing with one another and forgiving one another,???if one has a grievance against another; ???as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. ???And over all these put on love,???that is, the bond of perfection. ???And let the peace of Christ control your hearts,???the peace into which you were also called in one Body. ???And be thankful. ???Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly,???as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another,???singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs???with gratitude in your hearts to God.??? And whatever you do, in word or in deed,???do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,???giving thanks to God the Father through him."
Colossians 3:12-17
It never ceases to amaze me how God’s words can sometimes pierce the heart so overwhelmingly. Every time I open up His word, he seems to reveal yet another lesson I needed to learn (sometimes re-learn). His timing is impeccable.
“And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one Body.” These words strike me specifically. Reminding me that we are all called to be a part of the same family. A family united by Christ. Do we think about that daily? Are we helping each other seek peace in Christ by living and displaying his love to each person we encounter?
When we put on God’s love, by treating others with compassion, humility, and patience, we build a community of faith. After reflecting on the people in my life who demonstrate this kind of love, I can’t help but be thankful for their reminder of how Christ loves. Peace can only be found when we let the love Christ enter our own hearts. As we continue to search out how to better serve let us be reminded that we are all in this together.
We have so much to be thankful for here at NeighborLink. Over 250 projects completed so far this year, the Neighbor of the Year campaign, our cycling event The Great 80, an amazing group of volunteers, generous sponsors, and an awesome God guiding & loving us along the way.
May we rejoice! Thank you to all who help us in our mission and thanks be to God for all he has done for us!
