This past Saturday (5.17) we partnered with Fellowship Missionary Church and J&A Ford Tree Care to help Camp Red Cedar tackle a giant project. They have a beautiful horse farm and camp with more than a hundred acres of land in North Fort Wayne. One section of their property is wooded and has many horse trails where they do therapeutic horseback riding for some of their campers with physical and learning disabilities. Because of our relationship with their director, Carrie, we offered to come out with a large group of volunteers to help get those woods in shape for summer. There were a couple of dangerous trees that needed to come down and more limbs on the ground than any of their staff could keep up with.
So, over 35 people showed up to help haul limbs to the wood chippers and logs to the wood splitter. Thanks to J&A Ford Tree Care for bringing their expertise and their equipment to help us process all the limbs for mulch, which will get spread out on the trails for the horses and campers. J&A have been great partners for the past few years and are always generous in their support.
Thank you to Jeff Shatto, NL Director of Mobilization, and all the volunteers who gave up their Saturday morning to help out another great nonprofit.
