As NeighborLink enters its 13th year serving as a connector between local churches and vulnerable homeowners in need, we want to reflect and re-consider what it looks like to identify, help, and lead the body into the margins of our community to provide assistance to those facing life???s circumstances. We had a great 2015, but we also have the most requests and the lowest percentage of selected projects, which means more neighbors throughout Fort Wayne are facing life???s circumstances beyond their control. And, we???re just one organization.
We???re hosting a series of coffee gatherings with the hopes that local pastors will join us around the table to discuss the challenges and the opportunities in front of local Christians as it relates to loving neighbors well. We???re not doing this just to promote NL or our programs. We???re doing this because there are neighbors asking for help and I believe we???re all interesting helping, but struggle to do so at a level that we all believe is possible. We hope to learn as well.
Come to one or all of the conversations. We???ll lead with the questions we have and each conversation will go from there. We hope the conversations at each gathering will build on the one before.
Tues Jan 26th - 9a - 10:30a - Fortezza Coffee
Thurs Feb 18th - 9a - 10:30a - Mocha Lounge (space is limited, so please RSVP)
Wed Mar 16th - 9a - 10:30a - NL Office (2826 S Calhoun St - inside Blue Jacket)
Consider letting us know by email or phone if you can come so we can expect you. If we get a bigger response than we anticipate, we???ll find a location to accommodate everyone and we???ll let you know. If you don???t want receive these requests, just let us know and we???ll remove you from correspondence.
Coffee is always on us. Let us know if you have questions. 260.710.7611 or elisa@nlfw.org
About the Coffee Gatherings:
Our community has many men, women, children, and families who are in need of help on a daily basis. NeighborLink wants to connect the church to the most vulnerable in Fort Wayne to help us care for each other. Rather than shrink back, it is time to love like Jesus loved, serve like Jesus served, pray like Jesus prayed, and impact those around us like Jesus did and for His glory. Join us for coffee and to gather with other local church leaders to discuss what is already being done, and what else could be done to care for the most vulnerable in Fort Wayne. Loving our community requires a collaborative effort and we???re simply trying to create a conversation around practical ways to love others.
