As the summer started coming to an end, we began brainstorming a video idea that would capture the heart of NeighborLink in a unique narrative story. We started looking at what our goal was as an organization, and what the barrier was. As we viewed this story with the idea of everyone being stuck in their own houses, we started to see that maybe the solution was as simple as people walking out of their own worlds and outside to see others around them who are in need.
Our hope at NeighborLink is to inspire and empower people to lift the veil from their eyes to see the world around us. To love our neighbors, even when it's uncomfortable. Inspiring people to love and be loved. Most of us have all felt that ache of loneliness, wishing someone would just be there; to help with home repairs or lend an ear. So our hope is to see people step out of their houses, link together & fight through life side-by-side to uncover those dusty places in our lives that have long since been abandoned and to fix the broken. Whether that be in our actual houses or our personal lives.
We believe there is an exchange that happens when we first offer something of ourselves to others. When we are bold enough to take the first step to momentarily walk away from our own needs to help, encourage, and love others around us, it inspires others to do the same. That is the beauty of loving. Of giving. Of stepping out of your house to see the world around us. It's risky, but it's worth it.
