When one of your favorite restaurants and people come to you and suggest a collaboration should happen between the two of you, you always say, yes. Owner of Bravas Food, Bo Gonzales, has been a huge supporter of NL for the past couple of years and wanted to do something more in September '16. He had the idea of creating a special hotdog and then for every dog sold, donate $2 to a NL project that was waiting on much needed funding. The "Neighbor-Link" was born!
This is far more than a custom hotdog or a restaurant making a donation to us. The fact that Bo considered what he was good at and had access to and offered that to us is what we hope any volunteer/partner would. Because of Bo's leadership and relationships in the community, the idea quickly grew to include a few other creative friends into this collaboration. Stephen Bryden (Sankofa) and Matt Plett offered up their gifting and a rap song was created as well as a poster design. We have Rob Pelance (recording & mixing) and J Dankworth (beat) to thank as well.
Few things make us more excited at NeighborLink than when ordinary people recognize that they have something to offer and they freely offer it to help us accomplish our mission. Grateful for Bo's vision for this and we can't wait until we get your staff out for a project.
The campaign was successful with 527 Neighbor-Link dogs sold and a total donation of $1054. Thanks, Bo, for your leadership on this!
