11:48am Update - Within an hour, this project has been funded and exceeded. Any additional donations will go to helping us fund the next furnace within the next couple of weeks.
#GivingTuesday is a thing, and a thing we fully support. In an effort to encourage all of us to not get completely wrapped up in our own consumerism, Giving Tuesday is an effort to motivate us to make donations on behalf of those that cannot have the same Christmas season that many will have for ourselves. There is a long post somewhere in here about Christmas meaning, giving, grace, and the mixup we're all caught up in, but we'll save it for another post.
Today, we wanted to take a moment to draw your attention to the most important needs at NeighborLink today. Today, we're not about raising dollars for our operations to keep the lights on as they say, but for those neighbors in need that truly need help. Specifically, we're trying to raise dollars to help a Korean War veteran get a new furnace after his was shut off yesterday after an inspection revealed a cracked heat exchanger. NeighborLink volunteers have been helping Rolland on and off the past couple of years with home repair projects and this project is just beyond the abilities of volunteers.
Masters Heating and Cooling has inspected and determined it will be $1200 to replace this furnace. Rolland is able to contribute $125 and Team NeighborLink athletes have raised $275 that is going to be designated to the project. So, we're in need of an additional $825 today to make this project happen. If you want to help warm a house today and share of our blessings, you can head over to this link to make a contribution. Our TNLCX Furnace campaign page is the home for the fundraising on this project. You can read about Rolland's Project here.
