As 2017 comes to a close, we find it important to celebrate and reflect on the year. To take a moment and really say thank you to all our volunteers, supporters, and recipients. We had grand visions and grand goals for this year and needless to say, the Lord did great work both in and through NeighborLink.
To our volunteers and supporters, thank you for being generous with your time, skills, and resources. We appreciate your compassion towards the neighbors in need throughout Fort Wayne. From consisted groups like Carpenters Sons to those that used their birthday to raise funds for projects, thank you. Every dollar raised and every nail hammered was first and foremost used to bring glory to God, but also carry out Christ???s mission to love or neighbors. To our recipients, thank you for touching our lives. We at NeighborLink truly believe that behind each project is a story, a person, a relationship. This year we made it a point to value relationships over projects. It is our belief that when we value these relationships, lives are transformed. Both for the recipients and for the volunteers.
At our core, we want to see neighborhoods change for the better. We want to see relationships develop beyond just an act of service. Rather, we desire to see neighbors know the happenings of the neighborhood and strive to meet the felt needs of those down the block. While we could easily throw an end of year banquet and raise money for the next year, we find it right and necessary to celebrate those who have been a part of our 2017 journey. We find it paramount to celebrate the people who have connected with neighbors beyond just a one off project. It is in the celebration of these people that we find joy in reflecting on the year past, and find energy for the year to come.
Scripture is clear that we are ???to press on toward the upward call of Christ in us???. It is our hope that we can continue to live this call out through simple acts of kindness towards our neighbors.
Thank you to those who were able to come to our year end event. Thank you to those who have supported NeighborLink this year. Finally, thank you to those who have chosen to value people over projects and have taken the extra step this year to truly love your neighbors.
