NeighborLink Fort Wayne has the opportunity to benefit greatly from a new program throughout the state of Indiana called, Energizing Indiana.
From the Energizing Indiana Website:
Energizing Indiana is a united effort by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, participating utilities, and consumer organizations to offer comprehensive energy efficiency programs that bring savings to communities across the state. With programs for homes, schools, businesses and commercial facilities, Energizing Indiana provides the education and tools you need to improve efficiency and conserve energy.
These electrical power companies are joining forces and sharing resources to implement this program throughout the Northeast Indiana region for FREE. If you currently get your electrical power from one of these companies, you can participate in this program. You can expect an 1.5hr inspection, a free package of immediate improvements like lightbulbs, and a report on things you can do in the future.
There are two ways we see this benefiting NeighborLink as an organization and our members.
1. For every energy assesment scheduled, NeighborLink receives $25 in unrestricted funds for our organization. These funds could help get more projects done and help provides some needed website enhancements.
2. It helps all of our members become more aware of their home's energy efficiency and steps to improve it, which will save them money. For those that have major energy efficiency needs and are unable to afford the improvements, this program has a weatherization program you could qualify for that would pay for the improvements needed.
How To Get Started:

I know that these things always sound a bit fishy, but after researching and talking to them thoroughly, I'm believing in this program as a good thing, and not just because they're giving our orgization $25 per appointment to participate. I think we all need to do our part to conserve energy, and who doesn't like to pay cheaper bills?
