Our desire is to bring specific volunteer opportunities that are safe, doable, and ready to go as often as we can. Here are two opportunities that we've learned about in the past couple of days. Please contact them directly if you would like to volunteer as they'll be able to get you started immediately.
Homebound Meals
Homebound Meals has been delivering hot, nutritional meals in the Fort Wayne area since 1971. They have 21 routes of which have 10-12 homes on each route. All meals are picked up at one of four hospital locations (between 10:30am - 11:00am), and then delivered to the recipient around noon. If people are interested in volunteering, the best thing for them to do is call Homebound Meals directly for further information and instruction at (260) 422-3296.

Community Harvest Food Bank
There are also volunteer opportunities at the Community Harvest Food Bank as well. They are looking for volunteers to help stock shelves in their warehouse (must be 14 years of age or older) as well as stock shelves at their community cupboard (elementary age and older). Many school groups come and volunteer for this work, so with school closed, this is a need. There may be additional volunteer opportunities with their SeniorPak program delivering groceries to seniors as well in coming weeks.
If people are interested in volunteering, please call the Community Harvest Food Bank directly at (260) 447-3696 or go to their website at https://www.communityharvest.org
