37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[d] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
This week is National Volunteerism Week and my bias says that NeighborLink has some of the best volunteers in our community.
This week I was reflecting a lot about the impact our volunteers have had over the past 10 years as I was considering how to properly celebrate such a milestone. In the past 10 years, our volunteers have selected, organized, and completed well over 2,500 projects just in Allen County. The stories of your service have spread across the country and inspired others in 8 other cities to adopt the NeighborLink website in their communities. I realized that no matter how big of an event or how many thank you letters I send, I won't be able to properly summarize and celebrate how God has moved through His people within NeighborLink.
You all renovated entire houses for single moms; cleaned out cluttered homes for widows who were on the brink of loosing their homes to condemnation; you stood tall on roofs that were leaking for cancer patients trying to survive their treatments; and you've probably walked mowers far enough to go from coast to coast and back.
You prayed will thousands of people, donated tens of thousands of dollars, delivered meals, and cried with our neighbors who were in particularly difficult times. The impact on others is hard to measure, but I know that you all know the impact that it has had on you, and I encourage you today to reflect on that. I trust that God is please with you all.
What gets me every time is the fact that you keep coming back. You haven't let the difficult nature of projects, and the often costly investment of resources and time to prevent you from continue to serve. You all keep taking more projects and loving more neighbors. I hope you'll continue to serve at NeighborLink because I enjoy hearing the stories of how God worked in you and through you to accomplish projects that just needed a helping hand to those that were seemingly impossible.
On behalf of the Board fo Directors, Advisory Group, and myself, thank you for your generosity.
Be encouraged today!
