Weigand Construction spent this morning working on two NeighborLink projects in the Southeast side of Fort Wayne. A huge thank you to Advisory Group member, Bishop Brown, who works for Weigand. Bishop engaged his company to participate in this years Indiana Service Challenge sponsored by Companies With A Mission (CWAM). By participating in this event with CWAM, Weigand Construction has the potential to help win thousands of dollars, which will go to NeighborLink Fort Wayne.
One team worked with Norman, a legally blind gentleman with a huge vision and even bigger work ethic, to build a foundation for a new house that Norman is building. Norman shared the entire plans for the house, how he's been partnering with local businesses who own land next to it to have a large garden, and how hard he works to support himself and the community around him. The team from Weigand made great progress and were having a lot of fun helping.
The other team was replacing a worn-out porch floor for an elderly gentleman named, Clarence. Members of their team got an early start and have it almost done by 11am. They did fantastic work and we're grateful that they offered their skills to help Clarence out. If they hadn't helped Clarence, it's likely that the porch floor would continue to be a hazard for him.
We love when companies choose to empower their employees to give back to the community in ways like these. Weigand Construction has a long history of supporting the Fort Wayne community and supporting their employee's efforts as well. We're honored to have the opportunity to receive their gift as an organization, and we're glad they also got to meet Norman and Clarence. Two great assets to our Fort Wayne community.
We will be putting a video together and there will be opportunities to vote for that video to win a portion of the $200,000 that CWAM is putting behind this service challenge.
