Earlier this week us interns got a chance to get our hands a little dirty…and our feet...and our hair. ;) We tackled the first fire hydrant to see just how difficult the process would be for the upcoming Small Things Event: Hydrants paint day!
It ended up taking us a solid 45 minutes to wire brush the hydrant, which involved dust and paint chips flying all over (even in the eyes occasionally). Then another 15 minutes as we splashed on a fresh coat of paint. It turned out to be quite the adventure and we had a blast doing it!
Check out the process in our newly finished video here:
I am continuously learning that interning at NeighborLink brings lots of chances to get more involved in the community around me while learning more about my future field. Just today I found out the press release I sent out got published in the Journal Gazette! The small things really do bring great joys. I am loving this hands on approach and cannot wait to see how this project unfolds in the coming weeks!
