The first round of beautifying fire hydrants across the city occurred this past Saturday, and I must say it turned out to be quite the success. Over 40 volunteers helped give a fresh coat of paint to 47 fire hydrants located on Spring Street, E State Boulevard, and Bluffton Road. The city is looking a little bit brighter thanks to all the volunteers that came out!
Our team on Bluffton road, led by Ryan & Kelly Benton, painted 11 hydrants total. Don't they look lovely? (Both the team and the hydrant)
Hy Plimpton led a team of about 25 volunteers on E. State Boulevard, beautifying 27 fire hydrants in all. They even made the news! Check out the article on the Indiana News Center website.
I loved leading a route out where I live out on Spring Street! We had a blast completing 9 hydrants on the route, with 10 volunteers. The Neff family & fellow intern Bethany got their hands dirty with two hydrants, the Anchor Community Church team conquered four hdyrants, and my fellow Saint Francis peers were able paint three. I have to say that it is fun to see the fruits of our labor every single day when I pass the hydrants.
The Saturday afternoon brought people together to accomplish one unifying goal of making our community shine. Thanks again everybody that joined in on the fun!
