"A Christian worker has to learn how to be God’s noble man or woman amid a crowd of ignoble things. Never make this plea – If only I were somewhere else! All God’s men are ordinary men made extraordinary by the matter He has given them...Never choose to be a worker, but when God has put His call on you, woe be to you if you turn to the right hand or to the left. He will do with you what He never did with you before the call came; He will do with you what He is not doing with other people. Let Him have His way." -Oswald Chambers
There are several moments when I catch myself thinking I am not doing everything I can be. Sometimes I get caught up in a very futuristic mindset. Someday I will go to Africa and help the children. Someday I will start up a facility helping the homeless. Someday I will find the cure to cancer. Someday, someday, someday...blah, blah, blah. All those activites are amazing, valuable aspirations. I still want to do one or more of them, but the reality is I can be doing things here, right now. We all can. Beleive it or not, there are ways to be extraordinary in the ordinary (check out our Small Things videos if you do not believe me)!
It seems to me that God is telling me to SLOW DOWN. Stop trying to fast-forward life. Instead, embrace the present.
So today may you take a second to stop wishing you were doing something else, going somehwere else, or doing bigger things. Rather, stop to see how God is working in your lives right now. How you can do more to help those in your own neighborhood. Think about where God is leading you, and follow him. Let Him have His way with you.
