On my rides to and from work I hear the song "Lord, I need You" by Matt Maher often. The song seems to come on at the very moment I need to hear it the most. If you haven't heard it yet, take a listen by watching the video below.
The lyrics are a constant reminder that I cannot get through the day without God at the center. Everytime I try to do things by myself, I often end up overwhelmed, scared, or hopeless. These thoughts reminded me of one of the quotes about volunteering vs. God's call.
"A volunteer wants to quit at the first sign of adversity or discouragement, but one called of God digs in and perseveres."
God is our hope and our strength. As the song says, "Teach my song to rise to You/When temptation comes my way/And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You/Jesus, You're my hope and stay" Remember that we need Him, and that He is the one who gives us the strength to persevere.
