Our mission is simple: Practical, neighbor-to-neighbor expressions of God's love.
We choose to be neighbors. We choose to help those who need our help. In doing so, we are fulfilling the greatest challenge, to love one another in a very real and tangible way. Our vision is to build bridges between needs and resources, between volunteers and those in need, and to provide a way for people to give back to their community. We stand in the gap. We leverage technology through a multi-function website to provide the structure that allows the needs that fall through the cracks of traditional social services to be housed and communicated to the general community. In turn, the residents of Fort Wayne can now find ways to help a neighbor in need with as few barriers as possible. We welcome anyone with a need and anyone that wants to try to help solve that problem for their neighbor.
Practically, volunteers help hundreds of senior citizens, people with disabilities, low-income families, and people facing life's circumstances with tangible home repair projects every year. It's NeighborLink's desire to make as many connections as possible and support the activity the best we can by providing training and resources, and by connecting volunteers to other volunteers when their skills fall short of the task at hand.
In the big picture, we hope we're connecting neighbors in a practical way that encourages relationships and healthier neighborhoods for the city we love. Small things change neighborhoods, and we've seen simple projects like yard mowing turn into multi-year relationships between neighbors.
